Key Points

· Chick-fil-A is facing a sauce shortage

· There are multiple shortages across the nation

· The sauce shortage could have been avoided

When you think of Chick-fil-A, of course you think of the chicken. However, equally as crucial to the eating experience are their signature sauces.

Due to industry-wide supply chain issues, the popular chain is facing a “shortage of select items.” Among these items are their popular sauces. Chick-fil-A announced they will be giving only one sauce per entrée item, which is sure to set off some die-hard fans who frequent the chain’s 2,600 locations. These guests can be some avid sauce-dipping enthusiasts.

These industry-wide complications have affected other areas as well. Across the nation there are shortages of gas, chicken, computer chips, lumber, and more.

Chick-fil-A has said, “we are actively working to make adjustments to solve this issue quickly and apologize to our guests for any inconvenience.” This issue could have been avoided. It seems as though Chick-fil-A was unaware and unprepared for consumer demand that could have been accurately forecasted.

Luckily, Chick-fil-A has a loyal customer base. This will most likely be an unfortunate event they are able to bounce back from. However, in the meantime their customers aren’t very happy.

How could this have been avoided? It’s simple really. If Chick-fil-A had implemented Avercast’s demand forecasting software, they would not have faced a sauce shortage. Using past data of consumer sauce use, Avercast software would have forecasted the future consumer demand, and Chick-fil-A would have been able to plan accordingly. Avercast’s forecasts are reliable and accurate.
